Individual Project (6 weeks) - Unity

Church of the Machine is an Isometric dialogue driven narrative experience set in a dystopian cyberpunk-esq future.

The player takes the role of Driscoll in the third act of this vertical slice where they are tasked with infiltrating a machine cult. They must talk with people and observe the environment around them to find a way in.

Pillars:

  • Engagement with the world

    • Every interactable curio and character has unique dialogue as well as information that can be used in different conversations or inspections.

  • Impact of Choices

    • The player is put into an environment where every action they take is tracked via variables, secretly opening or closing potential doors or endings.

As is the nature of individual development it was a lot of work but a fantastic learning experience with Dialogue systems.

One of my first forays into narrative design and I learnt a lot.
